$325,000 For Digital Bureaucracy

The Dunedin City Council claims to be trying to save money, but is planning to spend $325,000 over 3 years on unnecesssary digital bureaucracy. The total cost is expected to be $250,000 to $300,000 per year, with sponsorship expected to provide the balance. If sponsorship was not found, then ratepayers will be left to pay the shortfall.
The Internet and our current digital world has developed without subsidy and control by Governments. It has been said that it has come so far and so fast because of little Government involvement. Dunedin homes and businesses can already access Internet services to match their needs and budgets. This spending is just bureaucratic empire-building.
